about firestop
Our Technologies
Of the 4 main flame retardant (FR) technologies, Firestop primarily uses newly developed organophosphorus chemistry as the basis of all its textile and plastics products, because of its minimal impact on the environment and users.
The phosphorus compound reacts when heated to create a char, inhibiting the pyrolysis process, excluding oxygen and impeding the emission of pyrolysis gases.
It is suitable for use in the textiles and polymers industries..
Organophosphorus is considered a more modern, effective and environmentally acceptable technology than older halogenated, nitrogen based or inorganic flame retardants.
All products are non-toxic and are very effective at reducing the spread of flame and subsequent smoke emission levels. They have been designed to meet both present and future legislative requirements, conforming to current and projected health, safety and environmental standards and legislation.
