Noflan®
Product description
Noflan® is a flame retardant additive
that is engineered specifically for natural textiles. Suitable for
use with most textile fibres, it is non-brominated and antimony
free, rendering cotton, poly cotton mixes, wool, wool/nylon
and linen completely flame retardant with minimal impact on the
physical properties of the textiles, so they retain their
feel and 'handle'. Noflan is the newest alternative to the
long established Zirpro® for wool treatment.
Noflan has over 100 independent test approvals in applications from furnishing fabrics to cruise ship carpets and currently meets the following requirements:-
BS5852 Ignition source 0 and 1 (Cigarette & Match) durable from 18 – 50 washes at 40°C
FAA/FAR 25.853 FR, smoke and toxicity for aviation fabrics
BS5852 Ignition source Crib 7 for rail fabric applications.
Operation
Noflan is effective by inducing a surface
char, cutting off the supply of volatile gases to the flame.
Application
Noflan is water soluble at up to 35%
and is applied to fabric blends by conventional
pad and mangle methods. It can also be sprayed or foamed onto other textile applications e.g. carpets.
Markets
Mass passenger transport, including bus,
rail and the airline industry, where it is used to treat
wool and wool/nylon
used for seating and carpeting, for floors and interior trim.
Noflan is also suitable for most textiles, including
cotton and cotton/polyester used in public area seating and
soft furnishings where flame retardancy is essential.
